The Principal Network Architect will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of ABB E-mobility’s global network infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable connectivity across data centers, cloud platforms, and international sites. The role requires deep hands-on engineering experience, strong architectural vision, and the ability to lead major migrations and cross-functional initiatives with precision and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement hybrid network solutions supporting both on-prem and multi-cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform, AWS).
- Lead enterprise-wide migrations from MPLS to SD-WAN, modernizing WAN connectivity across more than 50 global sites.
- Architect border and Internet routing strategies across on-prem, co-located, and cloud environments.
- Engineer and manage core routing infrastructure and peering for cloud, data center, and edge environments.
- Drive network transformation programs, including data center consolidations and technology refreshes for improved performance, security, and resilience.
- Build and maintain Infoblox-based DNS/DHCP services across a hybrid cloud grid.
- Troubleshoot highly complex application and network issues across multi-vendor, multi-cloud ecosystems.
- Design, deploy, and support routing/switching environments using Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HP, and associated platforms.
- Deploy and manage firewall architectures using Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Juniper platforms.
- Support VoIP and real-time communications architectures in hybrid environments, ensuring reliability and QoS optimization.
- Lead secure WAN/VPN integrations for third-party partners and customer-specific services.
- Collaborate with real estate and project teams to plan and implement standardized LAN/WLAN/WAN builds for new offices, moves, expansions, and closures.
- Define and document enterprise-wide network standards, operating procedures, and topology artifacts.
- Serve as technical lead and escalation point for large-scale network incidents, outages, and critical project delivery.
- Partner with development, operations, and product teams to support cross-functional initiatives involving network infrastructure.
- Build tools and automation to improve visibility, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and fault diagnostics.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development across network operations and architecture functions.
