Job Description
Data Engineer
Job Location:  Delft
Department:  D&R Operations
Work Model:  Hybrid
Full-Time/Part-Time:  Full Time
Contract Type:  Permanent
Job Req ID:  1560

We are looking for a Data Engineer to strengthen our growing team within this new venture. Our data platform has just been deployed, and the first pipelines are already in production. You will play a key role in scaling and enhancing this platform, enabling advanced analytics and data products that drive operational excellence and informed business decisions.

Note: This is not a role for the faint of heart. You’ll be joining a fast-moving team where priorities shift quickly, challenges come without warning, and solutions rarely exist yet. It will demand grit, speed, and relentless ownership.

What you will do:

  • Develop scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake)

  • Integrate real-time data streams from Azure Event Hubs and APIs

  • Enhance and maintain existing data ingestion and transformation frameworks

  • Contribute to data modelling and lakehouse architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers)

  • Dive into business and technical logics, such as industry protocols (OCPP, OCPI) to understand how to best model data to serve downstream consumers such as the operations team

  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability

  • Support the development of a modern, efficient data engineering environment

What you will bring:

You thrive in ambiguity. You excel where things are undefined, turning chaos into structure. You don’t wait for perfect clarity to act. You build, iterate, and scale.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or similar

  • 2–5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role

  • Strong experience in SQL and Apache Spark

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Azure cloud services

  • Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT development, and data modelling

  • Familiarity with streaming data and REST API integration

  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to learn new technical & domain topics quickly and lead in unfamiliar areas

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and shift priorities constantly

  • Strong communication skills and fluent in English

  • Bonus points if you have experience or interest in building telephony infrastructure on Twilio using JavaScript

What’s in it for you?

Work with the best specialists in their field, in a diverse environment with unparalleled global reach. Feel inspired by our fast-growth. You will have the accountability to own your part in enabling a future of sustainable and efficient mobility. You can also count on a competitive compensation package in line with your capabilities and experience. Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities are at the core of what we do. We celebrate different experiences and perspectives, and we aim to empower everyone in the creation of sustainable solutions for people all over the world.
