As we continue to grow across the Benelux region, we're looking for an experienced HSE Manager to shape and strengthen our health, safety and environmental culture across offices, laboratories, warehouses and field service operations.

What you will do:

As HSE Manager Benelux, you will own the HSE agenda across the Netherlands and Belgium. You'll balance strategic leadership with operational execution, working closely with business leaders to continuously improve our HSE performance while ensuring compliance with local legislation and ABB's E-mobility global standards.

You'll be the trusted advisor for the business, building partnerships across Service, Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, HR and Facilities to make health, safety and environmental excellence part of everything we do.

This role requires someone who enjoys influencing without authority, thrives in a dynamic international environment and can translate complex regulations into practical business solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the implementation of the Benelux HSE strategy, aligning regional priorities with ABB's E-mobility global HSE objectives.

• Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching and employee engagement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with Dutch and Belgian HSE legislation, ABB E-mobilty requirements and ISO management systems.

• Partner with managers to identify operational risks, develop mitigation plans and integrate HSE into everyday decision-making.

• Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.

• Monitor HSE performance, analyse trends and provide actionable insights through dashboards and KPI reporting.

• Plan and coordinate internal audits, inspections and management reviews while driving continuous improvement.

• Support field service operations by ensuring safe systems of work, contractor management and customer site compliance.

• Develop and deliver HSE training, awareness campaigns and behavioural safety programmes across the organization.

• Build strong relationships with regulatory authorities, customers, contractors and external stakeholders.

• Lead emergency preparedness activities, business continuity planning and crisis response coordination.

• Drive environmental initiatives supporting ABB E-mobility sustainability ambitions, including waste management, energy efficiency and environmental compliance.

• Coach and support leaders across the business to strengthen accountability and ownership for HSE performance.

• Contribute to global HSE projects and share best practices across the wider ABB E-mobility organization.

What you will bring:

You are a collaborative leader who knows how to build trust across all levels of an organization. You combine strong technical HSE knowledge with commercial awareness and understand how to influence decisions in a fast-paced international business. You don't just ensure compliance—you create engagement and help build a culture where safety becomes everyone's responsibility.

Other essential qualifications:

• 7+ years of progressive HSE experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial or field service environments.

• Experience leading HSE programmes across multiple sites or countries.

• Strong knowledge of Dutch HSE legislation; knowledge of Belgian legislation is essential.

• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

• Demonstrated success driving behavioural safety and organizational culture change.

• Experience leading incident investigations and implementing sustainable corrective actions.

• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across all organizational levels.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, using data to improve HSE performance.

• Experience working within an international matrix organization.

• Professional HSE qualification such as HVK, Preventieadviseur Niveau I/II, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.

• Fluent in English and in Dutch.
