Within ABB E-mobility, Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) is a dedicated, fast-growing business line reporting directly to the CEO. CaaS delivers end-to-end, fully managed EV charging networks for landowners and operators – covering DC hardware, maintenance, site & energy management, operations, authentication & payments, customer support and user experience under long-term contracts.

The CaaS team operates at the intersection of strategy, infrastructure, technology, finance and commercial execution, and is building a platform business with recurring revenues, strong unit economics and long-term customer partnerships.

 

Role Mission & Context

We are looking for a Senior Manager | Strategy, Business Architecture & Commercial Models to join the CaaS team based in The Netherlands.

This role is designed for a top-tier program lead with the ability to independently drive complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end: from strategic problem framing through to execution. You will work directly with senior leaders across Strategy, Finance, Legal, Product, Operations and Sales.

You will operate at the core of the CaaS business line, shaping how ABB E-mobility goes to market, structures commercial models, prices services and scales its platform globally.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Architecture

  • Lead strategic initiatives that define and evolve the CaaS operating and commercial model
  • Design and evaluate alternative market models that simplify financial and operational flows for landowners and operators, including:
    • Merchant-of-Record capabilities
    • White-Label CPO market models
  • Translate strategic choices into clear business architecture, ownership models and execution plans

Commercial Models & Contracting Support

  • Build and maintain CaaS pricing frameworks, unit economics models and lifetime value analyses
  • Support deal-specific commercial structuring, including allocation of roles and responsibilities, CaaS fee mechanics, minimum offtakes, performance guarantees, exchange rate mechanics and indexation
  • Work closely with Legal and Sales to translate commercial intent into scalable proposal and/or contractual frameworks
  • Support streamlining of order handling and sales operations for complex CaaS deals and drive cross-functional alignment on post-sales processes
  • Help translate bespoke deals into repeatable commercial and operational blueprints to ensure strategy is executable at scale

Corporate Finance & Planning

  • Support the development of financed CaaS offerings for landowners and operators, including CAPEX-light and off-balance-sheet structures
    • Lead capital raising initiatives for CaaS propositions, spanning equity, debt and project-level financing
    • Contribute to evaluation of funding options, partner models and SPV-based structures
    • Manage investor / lender engagement and support transaction execution
    • Build robust financial narratives for internally and externally funded CaaS propositions
  • Contribute to annual and multi-year budgeting, forecasting and planning for the CaaS business line

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare high-quality materials for Venture Board, Board of Directors and other senior executive reviews
  • Act as a thought partner to senior leadership on strategic trade-offs and growth decisions

 

Profile & Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-tier university with consistent outstanding academic record (preferably in engineering, business administration, business management, finance or economics)
  • 4-8 years of professional experience in:
    • Top-tier strategy consulting (MBB or similar), or
    • Analytical role in a scaling platform, infrastructure or technology business
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end
  • Exposure to infrastructure, energy, e-mobility, platform businesses or long-term service models is a strong plus

Skills & Capabilities

  • Exceptional structured problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguity, think conceptually and build clarity where none exists
  • Strong business acumen and deep understanding of commercial models, pricing logic and unit economics
  • Fluency in corporate finance and capital-markets concepts
  • High credibility with senior stakeholders – able to challenge and influence constructively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication – from board-level narratives to detailed financial models; exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – esp. PowerPoint and Excel
  • Fluency in English, other languages are a plus
