We are looking for a  Senior Mechanical Engineer with excellent organizational and technical skills who will provide support to the Project Engineer in the design and development of EV charging solutions. More details on your responsibilities:

  • Design and propose technical solutions for cutting-edge products at the system level.
  • Translate the product requirements into the optimal mechanical architecture and break it down to components maximizing the reuse of existing solutions.
  • Collaborate with SCM to select vendors who can offer the technology necessary to implement our products.
  • Collaborate with vendors to optimize the mechanical design of our product to their fabrication process to ensure the optimal result in terms of quality and cost.
  • Be able to pre-assess the cost of the designed mechanical parts/components. 
  • Tollerance stack up analysis.
  • Ensure the inter-departmental technical coordination of the project team. Collaborate with the product architect, platform, electrical, SW and test engineers in the functional integration of the electrical, mechanical, thermal and SW components of the product and in the development of the test plans and test criteria, as well as the verification and validation strategies.
  • Contribute to the implementation, testing, and validation of HW and SW solutions especially concerning the mechanical aspects of the product (IP, PK, vibration, thermal capability, cable pulling, manufacturability, ect).
  • Define test cases for design validation and for pre-compliance testing and lead test cases execution, giving guidance to the team to respect deadlines.
  • Propose and validate technical improvements with product managers and work closely with project leaders to facilitate the respect of project timelines.
  • Be responsible for the adherence of the assigned mechanical development activity to the schedule of the project.
  • Bring the product from idea to implementation and build a strong R&D network and relationship with global R&D teams. Willing to travel abroad.
  • Collaborate with vendor and mechanical engineers working on other project to find and maximize synergies, communalities and reuse between products and projects.
  • Attend and contribute to DFM (Design for manufacturing).
  • Generate 3D model of the developed mechanical parts, created their 2D drawings, upload the mechanical part and relative documentation (drawings, ROHS declaration) onto the PLM.
  • Participate to the make versus buy decision process of mechanical parts.  

 

The team you will be part of is the Products & Hardware Platforms Team. This position reports to our Program Manager.

 

To make the above work, we are looking for a senior professional who is an excellent communicator, team player, result-oriented, and tech savvy. Other essential requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a solid background in complex mechanical design and development.
  • 5+ years of experience in a medium-high range company focus on products design and production with a sound knowledge of hardware architectures.
  • Knowledgeable in thermodynamics and fluid-dynamics to be applied to cooling solutions  
  • Experienced user of Solidworks and, nice to have, Pro-E and ANSYS Fluent.
  • Knowledge of EV Charging Industry Protocols and Standards is a strong plus. Basic knowledge of IEC 61851 is necessary.
  • Knowledge of relevant mechanical standards/requirements such as, but not limited to, IEC 60721; ISO12944, ASCE 7, ISTA;
  • Focus on results/ solutions, teamwork, and customers with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both spoken and written), with the ability to influence others in the achievement of a common goal.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.
