Indirect Procurement Buyer
Job Location:  Berlin
Division:  Operations
Work Model:  Hybrid
Full-Time/Part-Time:  Full Time
Contract Type:  Permanent
Job Req ID:  1932

Are you ready to build partnerships, systems, and smarter ways of working to keep the business moving? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where you can make a difference? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are looking for an Indirect Procurement Buyer that manages supplier relationships, keep purchasing processes sharp, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations — while contributing to the digitalisation and AI-driven initiatives that are shaping the future of how we work. If you take pride in operational excellence but never stop asking how things could be better, this role is for you.

What you will do:

  • Support the end-to-end supplier registration and qualification process, ensuring timely and accurate onboarding of new suppliers.

  • Manage purchase requisitions and purchasing requests in compliance with ABB E-mobility policies and procedures, ensuring all required supplier documentation is complete and validated.

  • Coordinate and execute the Purchase Order (PO) process, including maintaining supporting documentation within SAP.

  • Develop and maintain effective day-to-day relationships with an international supplier portfolio, ensuring business requirements are met while supporting the implementation of procurement strategies in collaboration with Category Managers.

  • Own and maintain the PO database, ensuring accuracy and timely closure of purchase orders throughout the fiscal year.

  • Manage invoice exceptions in Basware, proactively resolving bottlenecks and coordinating with internal stakeholders and Category Managers to ensure timely payment processing.

  • Drive supplier onboarding activities, collecting and validating all required documentation, including General Terms & Conditions (GTCs), supplier forms, banking information, and Ariba questionnaires based on supplier classification.

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Indirect Procurement SharePoint database, ensuring supplier records and documentation remain complete, accurate, and up to date.

  • Execute procurement activities for indirect goods and services in accordance with company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

  • Support and manage procurement projects, including the review of technical specifications and stakeholder requirements.

  • Conduct market benchmarking, manage Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, and lead commercial negotiations to achieve optimal business outcomes.

  • Draft and implement framework agreements in close collaboration with Legal, ensuring contractual compliance with ABB policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across global functions, effectively navigating a fast-paced and evolving international environment.

  • Prepare, maintain, and present procurement reports, performance metrics, and status updates to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will bring:

To make the above work, we are looking for an analytically minded procurement professional who combines operational precision with a forward-thinking approach.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in procurement, supply chain, purchasing, or a comparable business function, with a proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

  • Fluency in both German and English, written and spoken. Knowledge of German regulatory requirements, administrative procedures, and interactions with public authorities is highly desirable.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access, with the ability to analyze data and communicate insights effectively.

  • Experience in indirect procurement, facilities management, or the sourcing of services and utilities within an international organization.

  • Practical experience working with SAP and procurement-related systems.

  • Understanding of procurement compliance, contract management principles, and corporate governance standards.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.

  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, combined with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Interest in digitalization, automation, and AI-driven process improvements, with a willingness to contribute to the continuous evolution of procurement processes.

  • Knowledge of Think-cell for data visualization and presentation is considered an advantage.

  • CIPS qualification, or a comparable procurement certification, is considered a plus.
