Job Title: Interim Legal Counsel – DACH

Take your next career step at ABB E-Mobility with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future.

We are seeking a pragmatic, commercially minded, and solution-oriented Interim Legal Counsel – DACH. As a trusted legal partner to the business, you'll be the go-to counsel for commercial and corporate legal matters across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You'll navigate complex contractual landscapes, customer agreements, supplier contracts, tender processes, and governance matters, and turn legal complexity into clear, actionable guidance that enables the business to move fast and confidently. Your focus is broad yet sharp: providing practical legal advice that protects the business, supports growth, and builds trust with stakeholders. You won't just identify risks—you'll help solve them. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, manage external counsel where needed, and ensure ABB E-Mobility operates with strong legal foundations across the DACH region

About the role:

  • Join ABB E-mobility in a broad legal role supporting commercial activities across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • Act as lead counsel for corporate legal management matters in Germany.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders on a wide range of commercial legal matters, including customer and supplier contracts, tender support, and day-to-day legal advice across the region.
  • Partner with internal teams and external counsel, where needed, to deliver pragmatic, business-oriented legal support in a fast-moving international environment.
  • This is a 12-month maternity cover role reporting to the General Counsel of ABB E-mobility.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, pragmatic and business-focused legal advice on commercial matters across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, partner and framework agreements.
  • Support tender and bid processes, claims-related issues, and contract management matters across the Cluster.
  • Manage corporate legal matters for Germany, including entity maintenance, governance support and coordination of required filings and approvals.
  • Coordinate with compliance, tax, finance, HR and other internal stakeholders to support business activities in the region.
  • Instruct and manage external counsel where specialist local law support is required.
  • Identify legal risks, help implement practical mitigation measures, and contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and templates.

Your Background:

  • Law degree and qualification to practise law in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Strong post-qualification experience gained in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both, ideally in an international business environment.
  • Solid experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation, with the ability to provide practical legal support to business teams.
  • Experience handling corporate legal management matters in Germany, including governance and entity-related support.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German are required; additional language skills relevant to the region would be an advantage.
  • Strong judgement, the ability to prioritise effectively, and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional and international stakeholders.

You will be self-motivated and solutions-oriented, with strong ethical standards, sound judgement, executive presence and excellent stakeholder management skills. A clear communicator who works well under pressure, collaborates effectively and contributes positively to team development and business outcomes.
