As a Production Engineering Specialist, you will be the architect of that excellence and optimize assembly processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring smooth, efficient ramp-ups of new products into production. You will own the technical bridge between engineering innovation and manufacturing reality, solving complex process challenges, leading lean initiatives, and training teams to execute at the highest level. Working across product lines, international teams, and third-party suppliers, you will have real influence on how ABB manufactures the technology that powers the world's transition to sustainable mobility.

 

Target Salary Range for this role is $95,000-110,000 USD

 

In this role your main accountabilities will be:

  • Lead the design and optimization of assembly processes for new product introduction, focus on workflow efficiency, takt time alignment, throughput improvement, and cost optimization to achieve smooth ramp-ups and full production capacity
  • Lead structured lean initiatives including 5S, value stream mapping, and line balancing by applying data-driven problem-solving to eliminate waste, improve quality, and drive continuous operational excellence
  • Assess emerging manufacturing technologies and equipment to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance, defining testing protocols, approval criteria, and leading vendor selection for new equipment and solutions
  • Support production line operations with real-time troubleshooting, equipment issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination to keep manufacturing running smoothly and minimize downtime
  • Work closely with third-party suppliers, equipment vendors, and international manufacturing teams to coordinate technical requirements, drive process improvements, and execute complex projects on time and on budget
  • Train operators and technical staff on new processes and standardized work; develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and work instructions; ensure all processes comply with quality, safety, and regulatory standards

 

To make the above work, we are seeking production engineering expert with:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience in production or industrial engineering, ideally in an international manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement frameworks with proven track record in process industrialization, line commissioning, and structured problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional projects, manage stakeholder relationships in multicultural environments, and drive adoption of new processes and technologies across manufacturing teams
  • Strong analytical and data management skills with proficiency in performance analytics, KPI tracking, and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, planned maintenance, equipment performance management, and technical engineering disciplines, with experience across multiple product lines or assembly environments
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills with the ability to train operators, lead workshops, and engage senior stakeholders; working proficiency in English required; familiarity with digital manufacturing tools (MES, IIoT, Industry 4.0) is a plus
