For ABB E-Mobility Technology Center located in San Giovanni Valdarno, we are looking for a Firmware Developer for our R&D organization. The profile will design/develop the control software of our power converts connected to the medium/low voltage grid for electrical vehicle charging applications. The profile will face the most interesting technical challenges in the field, building converters in the range of 10KW-1000KW using modern converter topologies and integrating them with the Charger Operating System. Your workflow will be part of the ABB gate model development process where you'll work in an Agile way with the entire product development team.


Your responsibilities

 

  • In this role your main accountabilities will be:
  • Participate in the definition of next generation electric vehicle chargers
  • Design and development of embedded software in MCUs and/or Application processors for complex system level management, communication, or power converters
  • Support the HW team and the testing engineers during the power modules development

 

Your background

 

  • A master’s degree  in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science
  • Strong knowledge of Embedded Systems and FW development and on the most common industrial communication protocol
  • Knowledge about ISO 15118-20 and OCPP communication standards would be nice to have
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and PythonFamiliarity with Linux is a plus
  • Strong plus is knowledge about FreeRTOS
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a medium-high range company focus on products design and production as FW engineer preferably for power electronics applications
  • Expert user of common tools and practices used in software development (Git and collaboration environments, compilers and debugging tools).
  • Ability to use standard laboratory equipment.
  • A clear verbal communicator in English and, preferably, in Italian.
  • Problem solving skills. Comfortable in a Start-up mindset inserted in a global strong company. Team working skills in an international context. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, agile team, with proven experience in product design and development
