Take your next career step at ABB E‑Mobility with a global team that is driving the transformation of society and industry toward a more productive and sustainable future. We are looking for a Product Performance Engineer for our plant in San Giovanni Valdarno, with a strong focus on product behavior analysis, design robustness, and verification of design against applicable standards.
Your Responsibilities
- Analyze the performance and behavior of the global installed base of charging solutions, identifying trends, weak points, and improvement opportunities across hardware and software architectures
- Lead structured problem‑solving activities (8D / 5‑Why) with a strong emphasis on failure mechanisms, system interactions, and design robustness, working cross‑functionally to define effective containment, corrective, and preventive actions
- Support teams in verifying design solutions against standards requirements, clarifying interpretation, identifying potential mismatches between design intent and standards expectations, and translating standards constraints into actionable engineering inputs
- Drive product reliability and performance improvements through engineering analysis, design feedback, enhanced test coverage, and validation strategies, rather than compliance‑driven activities
- Support global development projects by contributing to design reviews, failure mode analysis, risk identification, and performance validation, ensuring lessons learned from the field are translated into better product designs
- Coach and support project teams in complex customer issue resolution, providing engineering insight on root causes, design trade‑offs, and performance limitations from early development phases through industrialization and field operation
Your Background
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex systems involving power electronics, digital hardware, control, and software interactions
- 2+ years of experience in engineering, R&D, service, or product performance roles within electronic or electrical systems (automotive or energy systems experience is a plus)
- Solid interest in power electronics, circuit theory, system diagnostics, and laboratory measurements, with hands‑on or analytical exposure to real product behavior
- Good written and spoken English, with a collaborative and solution‑oriented engineering approach
- Availability for occasional international travel (approx. 5%)
