As a Senior Manager Employee Communications, you will be a key part of the Global Employee Communications team within the Communications  Team, which is a crucial component of the Global Marketing & Communications (M&C) organization at ABB E-mobility.

Our small, growing Communications &team strengthens global engagement with media, influencers, decision makers, employees, and customers, positioning ABB E-mobility as a leader in the EV space. Internally, we drive engagement, understanding, and pride, turning our people into true advocates. We also support our transformation with meaningful activities and content. 

In this role, you will be a vital member of the global employee communications team, reporting to the Global Employee Communications Lead. You will spearhead global projects and lead communications efforts for Italy. Your responsibilities for Italy will include managing communications for both global office workers and local factory workers. You will be working closely with the Italian location lead and the Italian HR business partner. Based in Valdarno, Italy, at our factory and global distribution hub, you will play a crucial role in fostering a unified and engaged workforce. 

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Here are the five most important responsibilities for the Senior Manager Employee Communications: 
  • Audience-Centric Communication Strategy: Develop and implement communication strategies for both global office workers and local factory workers, tailoring messages to suit different audiences. 
  • Local Employee Communications Management: Take charge of all internal communication efforts for Italy, ensuring alignment with global strategies while addressing local needs. 
  • Strategic Advisor to Local leadership: Serve as the key communications partner to local leadership, providing expert guidance on developing, executing and measuring strategic employee communications initiatives designed to foster a high-performance culture and drive employee engagement at all levels. 
  • Change Communications Leadership: Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive change communications plans to effectively manage organizational transformation ensuring employees are well-informed, supported, and motivated to embrace the new ways of working. 
  • Alignment of Global and Local Communications: Align local communications strategies with the broader global employee communications objectives, ensuring consistency and coherence in messaging, and facilitating a seamless flow of information between local and global communities.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Background: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus. You are fluent in Italian and English; other languages are a plus.  
  • Experience: At least 7 years of proven experience in communications, with a minimum of 4 years specifically in internal communications, or a related field with close collaboration with HR, preferably in both  global and organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for employee communications and a strong track record of working closely with senior leadership, including C-suite executives, to craft and implement strategic communication initiatives. Experience in the EV or technology sector is advantageous. 
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage communication projects and teams, with a track record of successful project execution. 
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. 
  • Cultural Awareness: Experience in working within a multicultural environment and the ability to tailor communications to different cultural contexts. 
  • Hands-On Approach: Comfortable working in a small, nimble Communications team where everyone has a hands-on approach to day-to-day work. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including internal social channels, intranets, and content management systems. 
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Especially with local teams including the local HR team. 
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to work under short deadlines, thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and plans. 
  • Passion for E-mobility: A genuine interest in the e-mobility sector and a commitment to promoting sustainable transportation solutions. 

In addition, you have excellent message creation, writing, and editorial skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for stakeholder interventions and rapid responses in conversations and user-generated content. You possess a keen radar for picking up and interpreting employee sentiments. You understand the social media universe and maintain authentic participation across various channels, both personally and professionally. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and execute, always looking for solutions when faced with roadblocks. A strong teamwork ethic is essential, as you will be working within a geographically dispersed team. You are eager to meet and exceed objectives, take on more responsibility, and guide internal and external resources and agencies effectively.
