To further strengthen our R&D organization at the Technology Center in San Giovanni Valdarno, we are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer who will contribute to the design, development and validation of next‑generation power converters for fast and ultra‑fast EV charging.

Your responsibilities

Design and develop power converters for DC fast-charging product

Create mathematical models of power electronic converters and run accurate simulations

Work on PCB design in collaboration with the Electrical CAD team

Support Mechanical and Thermal engineering teams during the converter design phase

Lead testing and validation activities to ensure performance, safety and reliability of prototypes

Work closely with the Control Firmware team to define and optimize control strategies

Provide technical expertise and mentorship within the team

Collaborate globally across ABB to explore innovative technologies and contribute to building a more sustainable future
Your background
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Energy Engineering with a strong foundation in power electronics; a PhD is considered a plus
- Professional experience in power electronics design, ideally within medium-to-large companies focused on power electronic applications
- Experience with microgrids, parallel converter connections and power sharing is an advantage
- Solid skills with simulation tools such as Plec s, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice/Qspice, Mathcad
- Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary, agile R&D environments with hands-on product development experience
- Strong communication skills in English; Italian proficiency is preferred
- A proactive, flexible, and creative mindset, with a passion for problem-solving and teamwork in an international context
