The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing and improving supplier quality, with a particular focus on assembled mechanical components and plastic products. This role ensures that suppliers comply with quality standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements, working closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers according to company and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, …).
- Monitor supplier quality performance through KPIs and periodic audits.
- Manage improvement plans, preventive actions, and corrective actions.
- Analyze quality issues on mechanical assemblies and plastic components, identifying root causes (Root Cause Analysis) and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and process requirements.
- Support the PPAP process and component validation.
- Prepare quality reports and technical documentation for traceability.
- Promote a quality culture throughout the supply chain.
Your Background
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality or process quality roles in the automotive or aerospace sectors.
- Knowledge of integrated Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001 as a minimum).
- Knowledge of plastic molding processes and mechanical machining, including precision machining.
- Knowledge of painting processes on steel and aluminum components.
- Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, 8D, PPAP).
- Familiarity with measurement and control tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Colorimeters, 3D Scanners…).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers and internal teams.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Availability for travel within the national territory, Europe, and beyond.
- Quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001 Auditor, IATF 16949, EN 9100).
- Experience in managing international suppliers.
- Knowledge of automotive or aerospace standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, SAP.
- Analytical problem-solving, results and quality orientation, negotiation and relationship management skills complete the profile.
