The Solutions Architect – Digital Manufacturing & MES will play a strategic role in shaping the enterprise architecture roadmap for manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role requires an extensive background in Digital Manufacturing, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and SAP S/4HANA integration, with responsibility for designing scalable, integrated solutions that optimize end-to-end production, logistics, and shop floor execution.

As a senior technology leader, the Solutions Architect will partner with global business stakeholders, IT leaders, and external partners to define the digital manufacturing vision, architect new solutions, and ensure successful implementation. The role spans strategic planning, solution design, integration oversight, and governance, while also providing subject matter expertise to drive innovation and adoption of Industry 4.0 practices.

Responsibilities

• Define the solution architecture for Digital Manufacturing initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT strategy and business objectives.
• Lead the design and integration of MES platforms with SAP S/4HANA and other enterprise applications.
• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable digital solutions.
• Oversee solution blueprints, system configurations, and architecture artifacts for MES and related systems.
• Evaluate emerging digital manufacturing technologies (IIoT, AI/ML, automation, analytics) and recommend adoption strategies.
• Provide technical leadership in full life-cycle MES implementations (design, build, test, deployment, and support).
• Ensure robust integration between MES, ERP, PLM, quality, and shop floor automation systems.
• Develop architectural standards, governance processes, and integration guidelines for digital manufacturing platforms.
• Collaborate with enterprise development teams to deliver solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and compliance.
• Drive risk identification and resolution, ensuring security, scalability, and compliance across solutions.
• Mentor and guide functional analysts, developers, and solution teams on digital manufacturing best practices.

Background

• Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Industrial Production, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Extensive experience in Digital Manufacturing and MES solution design and delivery (Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Dassault DELMIA Apriso, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of integration between MES and SAP S/4HANA (PP, MM, QM, DM, EWM).
• Proven track record of architecting enterprise-level MES and shop floor automation solutions.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory concepts, including IIoT, advanced analytics, and digital twins.
• Experience with global manufacturing operations, logistics execution, and supply chain visibility solutions.
• Minimum 8+ years in manufacturing IT solutions, with at least 5+ years in MES/Digital Manufacturing architecture.
• Professional certifications in MES platforms and/or SAP S/4HANA are highly desirable.
• Strategic thinker who can connect technology strategy with business outcomes.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, able to influence across business and IT functions.
• Deep problem-solving skills with ability to design scalable, future-proof solutions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills at executive and technical levels.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple complex initiatives.
