Take your next career step at ABB E-Mobility with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future. The Test Engineer ensures that every unit leaving production meets performance, safety, and regulatory requirements—while also feeding critical insights back into R&D to improve design robustness, manufacturability, and long‑term reliability. It’s a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on testing, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration in a fast‑growing clean‑tech environment.
In this role your main accountabilities will be:
- Execute end‑of‑line testing for EV chargers and subsystems, ensuring each unit meets electrical, mechanical, firmware, and safety requirements before release to customers.
- Develop, refine, and maintain EOL test procedures, fixtures, and automated test scripts to improve throughput, repeatability, and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot failures during production testing, perform root‑cause analysis, and collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Operations to drive corrective actions.
- Validate engineering design changes, new components, and firmware updates to ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
- Analyze test data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process or design improvements; communicate findings to cross‑functional teams.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality processes, maintaining complete and accurate test documentation.
To make the above work, we need an experienced Test Engineer with:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in hardware testing, validation, or manufacturing engineering, ideally in EV charging, power electronics, automotive, or other high‑reliability industries.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, high‑power electronics, grounding, insulation, and safety requirements relevant to EV charging equipment.
- Hands‑on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, load banks, CAN/communication analyzers, and environmental chambers.
- Familiarity with automated test systems, scripting languages (Python preferred), and data acquisition tools.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and firmware release notes to support troubleshooting and validation.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to connect test results to design or process improvements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively across R&D, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- Proactive, hands‑on problem solver who enjoys bridging the gap between design intent and manufacturable, reliable products.
